Impressions of Regional Conference

I attended our Regional Conference yesterday. It was at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. There were 72 stakes there...Holy Cow! It was completely full. I went with some girlfriends and of course they love me for being able to sit closer due to my wonderful hearing impairment. Gotta love the Closed Captioning!!

Anyways, the meeting was fabulous. The spirit was incredibly strong and the talks were great. I wanted to take a moment and share some of the things that were given.

Richard G. Hinckley:

He talked about how important the Priesthood is in our lives. The Priesthhood keys opened the door for us to have the promises of eternal families. Without the keys being restored we wouldn't have the amazing promises of our baptism, endowment and sealing covenants. We must not take our covenants or our families lightly...

Cheryl C. Lant:

She mainly spoke on how we need to keep our families in balance. Overscheduling activities leave no time for the family. We need to assess what is important and what activities are or are not helping the family progress spiritually. Satan is lurking in the secret cabinets of our homes, it is up to us to clean the filth as if it were germs. He cannot come in unless we invite him.

M. Russell Ballard:

He talked about the divine gift of the Holy Ghost. We need to be careful when we receive a prompting from the Lord...and we should follow it. There is no greater blessing than to have the presence of the Holy Ghost. He shared a story about when he was a young Bishop. He was working late one night, and was ready to go home. It was snowing and he was tired. He had the prompting to visit a Sister in his ward. He fought it with how tired he was and it was too late in the night to pay a visit. He went home and early the next morning he went to visit the Sister. When he arrived at the home, he was told that the Sister had passed away a few hours earlier. He explained that he had never felt worse in his life than in that moment. He went on to counsel us to live worthily of the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

President Thomas S. Monson:

He is amazing. Every time I hear him speak, it leaves me in awe. He is so inspiring and so kind. He talked about a lot of things. His main topic was how we need to live our lives like the "Blueprints of the Kirtland Temple". " A house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.” D&C 88:119
We need to teach our children how to pray. Also...you cannot pray a lie! Fasting is where we call on the Lord for blessings. We need to turn to our scriptures and use them in our homes. There is safety in the Scriptures. He went on to counsel us in many other areas...I just wish that my hands were as fast as my ears! The best line of all though was: "We build not for ourselves but for future generations!"

Sounds like an awesome conference! I too loved the benefits of sitting up close with you at the temple. I got a lot out of it having to read the closed caption. Hey, we must have just missed you at the State fair. We were there in the early evening. Corn Dogs-tasted pretty good, but for $5.50 a pop?!!! What a joke! We had to buy Max one because he was starving. You have to take out a freaking loan or 2nd mortgage just to pay for a night at the state fair! Not to sound bitter-we did have fun and glad you did too! :)
