Last night as I was laying in bed thinking about stuff. My thoughts turned to the book series of The Babysitters Club. Many memories came swarming back. But the most relevant thing about me posting is...It totally "dawned" on me that I am Dawn in The Babysitters Club! Ha ha! It totally makes sense since she was my favorite character. I went to Wikipedia to read up more about her. I have highlighted the things we have in common:
Dawn Read Schafer
- Birthday: February 4
- Club position: Alternate Officer, Treasurer (Book #14-28 & #84-88), Honorary Member (Book #67-80 & #89-end)
- Favorite sitting charges: Buddy, Suzi and Marnie Barrett
- Appearance: Light blond hair, blue eyes.
- Dawn originally lived in Palo City, California, with her family, until her parents' divorce moved Dawn and her younger brother Jeff across the country to Stoneybrook, CT, where her mother, Sharon, grew up. Jeff had a lot of trouble adjusting to the move (although he did make and stay friends with the Pike triplets throughout the series) and soon returned to California to live with their father.
- Dawn is an environmentalist, which causes problems in the club in book #57, "Dawn Saves the Planet". Dawn sometimes claims she is a vegetarian, although she eats fish and on rare occasion eats other meat. She mainly eats healthy food, and is a strong opponent of guns and violence. She hardly ever takes the candy Claudia offers.
- Dawn joined Stoneybrook Middle School in the middle of the seventh grade, when the BSC members were having a fight. She met Mary Anne and they instantly bonded. This caused some jealousy from Kristy, which eventually stopped.
- Dawn's mother, Sharon, was Mary Anne's father Richard's girlfriend in high school, which they found out in book #4, "Mary Anne Saves The Day". They later married (in book #30, "Mary Anne and the Great Romance") and lived in a farmhouse on Burnt Hill Road.
- Dawn loves ghost stories, and enjoys taping movies from television.
- Later into the series, she decides to return to California because she feels homesick for her dad and brother Jeff. She never moves back to Stoneybrook, but appears regularly in books.
